The snow is flying outside and I am hunkered down inside. I couldn’t be more ready for some creative time alone, in my studio, to go further inside, to explore, to play, to make some new work.
a new piece in progress
I’ve had 11 shows this year (4 are still in progress) […]
See it, back there on the wall in the corner of the studio? That’s the next piece in my LineScape series. I started it last year and am now circling my way back toward reconnecting with it with plans of finishing it for a rapidly approaching exhibit that opens in May.

Recuperative studio time. Quiet reflection, drawing marks on the cloth with wet paste, watching the image disappear as the paste dries in the sun, then magically re-appear with the steam. The wind took a break for a day. The sun was warm, the cloth cooperative, giving up it’s color without too much fight.

A few months ago, I had assembled a group of dye drawings on 13 large silk screen frames and spent a day printing these out on cloth, sharing a few photos of that work in process in a previous post.

Art, Aspen, airplanes, apple trees, campfires, cows, chickens, sheep, horses, pigs, mountains, hot springs, farms, family, and fried foods.
2 weekends, lots of travel, people, and places – a good rousting change of scenery, a momentary respite from the corporate grind, and a spinning wheel of new perspectives and gratitude.

Over the course of a few weeks, I’ve assembled a group of 13 silk screens with dye drawings. It was time to get to printing all of these out on cloth. Sunday became the day for the 6 hour long printing session.

An Artist Book from year’s Past
I was reminded today of this artist book that I made several years ago. The image below is on my Flickr photo stream and a wonderful fan just added it to her favorites list this morning, which “ping-ed” me and led me to look at this again.
Continued from here and here, I’ve now finished my first piece in the LineScape series which contains some significant hand stitching. I’m really loving the look and feel of the hand stitching as well as the meditative (problem solving) time I get while doing the stitching.

Combining my layered techniques now also with something new for me – hand stitching. As this piece is evolving, it’s becoming an important part of my story, a combination and convergence of many things, with ties back to multiple […]
